Four prep sports events to keep an eye on this week:
Girls basketball: Jackson at Lake Stevens, 7:15 p.m. Tuesday. Lake Stevens is second in the Wesco 4A standings with a 6-1 conference record, and Jackson is third at 5-2. It’s a rematch of the Vikings’ 72-63 win on Dec. 11, when Lake Stevens overcame a 32-point performance by Jackson senior and North Dakota State University-bound Olivia Skibiel. The top two Wesco 4A teams receive first-round byes in the Class 4A Wes-King Bi-District Tournament and avoid the loser-out play-in round.
Boys swimming: Lake Stevens vs. Glacier Peak and Snohomish, 3:15 p.m. Thursday at Snohomish Aquatic Center. The top three teams in the Wesco North standings will be on display as the Vikings square off against the two Snohomish schools. All three teams are unbeaten in Wesco North meets.
Boys wrestling: Stanwood at Everett, 7 p.m. Friday. Stanwood takes a perfect 6-0 dual-meet record into this Wesco 3A North showdown. The Spartans are led by junior Riley Van Scoy, the top-ranked 160-pound wrestler in the state’s 3A classification according to Washington Wrestling Report.
Girls wrestling: Lady Classic, 10 a.m. Saturday at Everett H.S. Eighteen teams are slated to participate in the tournament, including 13 local schools: Arlington, Cascade, Edmonds-Woodway, Everett, Granite Falls, Glacier Peak, Jackson, Kamiak, Mariner, Marysville Getchell, Marysville Pilchuck, Oak Harbor and Shorecrest.
