It was a case of fourth time lucky at the Magic Millions for Egyptian Symbol as the six-year-old mare claimed the $1m Magic Millions Snippets (1200m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.
Ridden by Jason Collett for trainer Bjorn Baker, Egyptian Symbol ($26) unleashed her trademark late burst to defeat Fiery Heights ($41) and Dothraki ($18).
“She’s always had the ability and galloped huge (during the week),” Baker told Sky Thoroughbred Central.
Egyptian Symbol successfully resumed in the Magic Millions Snippets, meaning she’s now won five of her seven first-up attempts.
“As a trainer, there’s many ways to skin a cat and we’ve finally probably realised that first up and fresh is the best way to go,” Baker said.
“It’s not rocket science but we’ve got it right today.”

Egyptian Symbol made her fourth appearance at the Gold Coast on Magic Millions raceday.
Egyptian Symbol ran third in the 2016 Magic Millions Guineas (1400m), sixth in the fillies and mares race in 2017 over 1300 metres.
The daughter of Stratum then ran third to Viddora in last year’s Snippets before winning this year’s renewal.
This year’s Snippets favourite Houtzen ($2.40 favourite) settled outside the lead and weakened out of contention over the final 200 metres while Usain Bowler ($4) settled three back on the fence and also offered little in the straight.
