Cauldron Ice Cream is expanding in Orange County, adding its second shop in Irvine.

The location, at 14001 Jeffrey Road in the Cypress Village shopping center, debuts Saturday, Jan. 12.

Cauldron, a concept founded in Santa Ana in 2015, uses a fanciful cone called the Puffle, a waffle cone with a certain 3D effect inspired by Hong Kong street food. Its small-batch ice cream, made with liquid nitrogen, includes flavors such as Earl Grey Lavender, Milk and Cereal, and H20 Rose.

The Irvine shop is operated by Cauldron Collective, a franchise held by James Ho, Dan Nguyen, and Steven Cao.

“Irvine is the ideal location for our unique twist on a classic treat,” said Ho in a statement.

New to the store is the Fluffypuff – a Japanese pancake ice cream sandwich.

The Irvine shop is the second of three stores to open under Cauldron Collective. The group is prospecting another location in Orange County later next year.

Cauldron has locations in Santa Ana, Artesia, Glendale, Pasadena, Temple City and Chino Hills, and expects some 20 units will open in Canada, Texas and California under guidance from its franchise partner Fransmart.
