La Lumiere established itself as the top dog in prep basketball with a convincing showing at the Cancer Research Classic last weekend, handling Montverde Academy (Montverde, Fla.) for the second time this season as well as grabbing a win over previously ranking Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas).
The Lakers' impressive showing vaulted them over McEachern (Powder Springs, Ga.) in the MaxPreps Top 25 despite the Indians winning twice at the Cancer Research Classic. Of the six ranking services in the Top 25 Composite rankings, five of the six put La Lumiere at No. 1.
Only schools recognized by two or more media outlets are eligible
for inclusion in the composite rankings. Teams were assigned a score of
30 for each media outlet that did not recognize them as part of their
Top 25, rewarding teams that received consensus acclaim.
