Bucyrus City Schools bus involved in minor crash; no injuries

BUCYRUS – A Bucyrus City Schools bus was involved in a minor crash while transporting students to Bucyrus Elementary School on Friday, according to a news release from the school spokesman.

No injuries were reported to students, the bus driver or the driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash. The bus was able to continue its route and deliver the students safely to the elementary school.

“Our bus driver notified us immediately after the accident happened and we implemented our safety plan immediately,” Bucyrus Superintendent Kevin Kimmel said. “We are thankful that our students, our bus driver and the driver of the other vehicle were not injured in the accident.”

The district’s administration, upon learning of the crash, immediately contacted the families of all the students on the bus to let them know their children were involved in the crash and were not injured.

“All the students’ families have been contacted as of 9 a.m. today,” Kimmel said. “I want to thank the district’s administrative team for their swift response to this situation.”

The crash remains under investigation by the Bucyrus Police Department. Names of students, the bus driver or the driver of the other vehicle are not being released at this time.
