House fire in Milford displaces family of four

A family of four was displaced from their home in Milford Tuesday after a fire broke out in the walls of the kitchen and bathroom, fire officials said.

There were no injuries.

The fire is believed to have been caused by a plumber who was welding a pipe in the basement of the home on Claflin Street, said Brendan Keefe, a firefighter.

The fire started around 6 p.m. and was contained to the kitchen and bathroom. It took about one to two hours to extinguish the fire, he said.

No further information was immediately available Tuesday night about where the family will be housed.
