Christmas Gala: The Guardians

Children all over the world become more and more involved with video games, sports and tweets… they believe less and less in things they can’t see. Santa’s Magical Hope Chest holds the beliefs for all the children in the world, and it’s almost empty! Watch, as Jack Frost, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and other protectors aid Santa in the search for one special child, who can once again fill his Magical Hope Chest with enough belief for the whole world. Earth Oven Cooking at Poverty Point World Heritage Site

Visitors to Poverty Point World Heritage Site are invited to take part in a ranger-led cooking demonstration at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1. The program offers a unique look at prehistoric cooking with an earth oven, showing how the Poverty Point people used earthen cooking balls and specially-dug pits to prepare their food. Come and join them around the fire as they cook food as Native Americans did thousands of years ago.

Amdocs Presents Downtown River Jam with Louisiana Soul Revival featuring Doug Duffey

Downtown River Jam, presented by Amdocs, will be held Saturday, December 1, from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Origin Bank Riverwalk. This show will finish the year off with a bang as Louisiana Soul Revival Featuring Doug Duffey plays on the Skent-N-Dent Stage before and after the fireworks show provided by the Monroe Renaissance in the heart of downtown Monroe. Choice Brands will have free beer samples available while Doe’s Eat Place will have beverages for purchase. Food vendors will also be on site. This family friendly event hosted by the Downtown Monroe Alliance is free and open to the public. Louisiana Soul Revival featuring Doug Duffey is an exciting, award-winning, original music band based in the Mississippi Delta of Louisiana. National Blues Hall of Fame, and Louisiana Hall of Fame inductee DOUG DUFFEY leads this slammin’ multi-generational band through set after set of his internationally-celebrated songs.
