Sandusky County Park offers variety of holiday activities

The Wilson Nature Center in Lindsey is one of the facilities used by the Sandusky County Park District.

FREMONT - The Sandusky County Park District will host a variety of holiday-related events throughout December. All programs require pre-registration at lovemyparks.com or by calling 419-334-4495.

Alcohol Ink Coasters: 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 1, Creek Bend Farm: Wilson Nature Center. Join Melanie Wahlgren of Experience INK! to paint and seal two sets of 4 inch ceramic coasters (eight total) using a two-part epoxy resin, ultra fine glitter, and alcohol ink.  Create this unique piece of artwork while enjoying relaxing music and serene views of nature right in front of you.  All materials provided.  Ages 14 and older. Program fee $40. To register and pay visit paypal.me/MelanieWahlgren.

Puddle Jumpers: Nature Ornaments: 2 to 3 p.m. Dec. 2, Creek Bend Farm: Wilson Nature Center. Designed for children two to five years of age. Create ornaments using objects from nature that we collect. Register the children attending only, adults need not register. 

Children ages 6 to 12 years old can make bird feeders at the Wilson Nature Center on Dec. 2.

Tree Huggers: Backyard Bird Feeders: 2 to 3 p.m. Dec. 2, Creek Bend Farm: Wilson Nature Center. For ages 6 to 12 years old. We will be making feeders for you to take home. Only register the children attending, adults need not register. 

Celebration at the Cabins: 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7, White Star Park: Cabins. The park district will celebrate its 45th Anniversary. Sandusky County Park District was created on Dec. 7, 1973. Join us at the cabins, open-house style, for chowder, desserts and old-timey fun. Registration required.

Fabric YoYo Crafts: 2 to 3 p.m. Dec. 8, White Star Park: Cabins. Learn how to make fabric YoYos then put them together to create fun holiday decorations. 

Rug Braiding at the Cabin: 5:30 to 7 p.m. Dec. 11. White Star Park: Cabins. Keep the cabin celebrations going by learning to make a braided rug. This is an old-time method to reuse scrap fabrics and clothing. Fabric will be provided.  $5 program fee Registration required.

Tales to Tails: 10 to 10:45 a.m. Dec. 13, Creek Bend Farm: Wilson Nature Center. Join us at the Wilson Nature Center for story time, crafts and adventure.  Toddler to pre-school.

Needle Felting: 6:30 to 8 p.m. Dec. 13. White Star Park: Cabins. Learn how to needle felt! Participants will receive a felting kit to take home and learn how to make several felt projects.  $10 program fee. 

Basket Making: 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 15. White Star Park: Cabins. Spend an afternoon in the cabin while we make an easy beginner basket.  $10 program fee.

Tin Punching: 1 to 3 p.m. Dec. 16, White Star Park: Cabins. Keep the cabin celebrations going by learning by making your own punched tin sheet.  This was a great way to decorate your pie safe or baking cabinet.  All materials will be provided.  Ages 15 and older. $10 program fee.

Bread and Butter. 2 to 4 p.m. Dec. 27, White Star Park: Cabins. Keep the cabin celebration going with some tasty treats. We will bake bread and make the butter and jam to go with it. Each participant will take home slices of bread along with samples of the butter and jam. All supplies will be provided.  $5 Program fee.
