Sheriff's office seeks help in finding man who robbed Marion bank

The Marion County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who was wearing this hat when robbing the First Federal Bank, 279 James Way, in Marion midday Tuesday, according to the sheriff's office.

MARION — The Marion County Sheriff's Office is looking for the person who robbed the First Federal Bank just east of Marion, according to the sheriff's office.

The sheriff's office received a report that the bank, 279 James Way, had been robbed about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to a press release issued Tuesday afternoon by the sheriff's office.

No one was injured in the robbery, the release says. The release does not specify whether the robber brandished a weapon during the robbery.

The suspect was wearing a blue and white stocking cap with the word "DETROIT" on it, a black winter coat, brown pants and tan gloves when he entered the bank, the release says.

The suspect is described as a 6-foot-tall man of medium build, with black hair and a black beard and mustache, according to the release.

After the robbery, the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, the release says.

The release advises anyone who sees the suspect not to approach him but to contact law enforcement.
