Myckena Guerrero breaks down the movement from the volleyball court.
Four teams ranked in last week's Top 25 lost in state championship games on Saturday to drastically change this week's MaxPreps Xcellent Top 25 National High School Volleyball Rankings presented by the Army National Guard.
Only the top three teams — Assumption (Louisville, Ky.), Yorktown (Ind.) and Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) — were unaffected by the losses.
All total, seven new teams gained Top 25 recognition.
With season-ending losses to last week's No. 4 Cedar Falls (Iowa) and No. 5 Byron Nelson (Trophy Club, Texas), Millennium (Goodyear, Ariz.), and Mercy (Farmington Hills, Mich.) moved into the top 5.
The biggest movers of the week were Ursuline Academy (Cincinnati) and Millard North (Omaha, Neb.). Both were ranked in the Top 25 earlier this season, but dropped after early season losses. Each won a state title over the weekend to extend impressive winning streaks and rejoined the Top 25.
