Us The Duo created quite a stir when they auditioned on America’s Got Talent last month, not least because the pair had already tasted success.
The husband-and-wife act of Michael and Carissa Alvarado have headlined their own shows around the globe and toured with Pentatonix. Previously signed to Republic Records, the duo is recognized as one of the first acts to be signed to a major label after gaining attention on Vine. Millions follow the Alvarados on social media and streaming platforms.
On Tuesday night, Michael and Carissa returned to AGT for the Judge Cuts round to try win over Howie Mandel, the one hold-out from their earlier performance.
Trending on Billboard
Following their original audition, Carissa confessed she and hubby were keen to “start a family soon,” and that winning the TV talent quest would make the “dream come true.” Things have moved on. Ahead of Tuesday’s performance, Carissa announced they were expecting a baby.
With the good news out, and with Michael seated at a grand piano, the duo (trio?) belted out a bouncy original, “(Stop) Just Love.”
Guest judge Ken Jeong (The Hangover) liked what he saw, but Mandel remained unmoved. The other judges ganged up and ensured Us The Duo would progress to the live round. Watch the performance below.
