Markus Lynn Betts has played for the Red Sox organization since he was drafted in 2011.

Betts has played in 644 regular season games since being called up by the Red Sox in 2014.

His career batting average is .303, but in 2018 he hit .346.

World Series... of Bowling

Betts has participated in the Professional Bowlers Association's World Series of Bowling twice, in 2015 and 2017.

He can boast several perfect games in his bowling career, including one game during the qualifying round of the 2017 World Series of Bowling.

2018 achievements

During the 2018 season, Betts:

- Became the first player in MLB history to have four three-home run games before age 26

- Hit the 100th home run of his MLB career

- Became the second Red Sox player to ever join the 30-30 club

- Became the 21st Red Sox player to hit for the cycle

- Was named to the 2018 MLB All-Star Game as a starting outfielder

Personal life

Betts has said his nickname comes from his parents watching former NBA point guard Mookie Blaylock.

He graduated in 2011 from John Overton High School in Nashville, Tennessee, where he played baseball, basketball and was a standout bowler.

Betts and his girlfriend announced a pregnancy in August. The baby is expected in November.
