Newark police to target speeders, drunk drivers through Halloween
NEWARK - Speeding, impaired driving, and seat belt enforcement will be the focus of a Halloween police blitz.
According to a press release, Newark police will be conducting a high visibility enforcement blitz beginning Oct. 26 and running through Halloween. The public will see an increased police presence in the areas of Ohio 13, 16, 79 and 21st Street.
The blitz is funded through an Ohio Department of Public Safety grant. The press release noted Newark police was awarded a $14,244.94 grant Impaired Driving Enforcement Program grant, designed to target specific dangerous driving behaviors over a year-long period.
The press release noted the Halloween blitz is the second in a series of 12 targeted overtime enforcement activities over the next year.
