Can anyone explain to us why Mahmoud Ahmendinejad is all in on the Michigan football-Michigan State football rivalry?

The former president of Iran tweeted yet again about the U-M/MSU game on Sunday morning. This time, he offered congratulations to both sides.

Perhaps Saturday was the "return to its glory days" that Ahmadinejad was tweeting about on Tuesday

It was then when he mentioned how the Wolverines would be able to get back to the winnings days of years ago.

Now, U-M is ranked in the top 10 and seems to be in the driver seat not only for the Big Ten title game but a spot in the College Football Playoff.

Ahmadinejad, who banned Twitter after millions of Iranians protested his controversial reelection in 2009, has been active on the social media service since announcing a new bid for president in 2017.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahamdinejad, answers a question during a news conference in Tehran, Iran, on Jan. 14, 2006. The news conference by Ahmadinejad comes after efforts by European countries on Friday to build international support for bringing Iran before the UN Security Council, over its nuclear program. Iran meanwhile, has vowed to end all voluntary co-operation with the International Atomic Energy Agency if it is referred to the UN Security Council for restarting its nuclear program.

Although he lost that election to the moderate incumbent, Hassan Rouhani, Ahmadinejad has remained on the service, opining regularly on domestic and foreign affairs.

The former president regularly takes shots at the United States, writing in January that "the American people today are captivated by selfish, ignorant and uncultured rulers."

In September, Ahmadinejad commented on the Colin Kaepernick controversy in the NFL, writing, "The #NFL season will start this week, unfortunately once again (Colin Kaepernick) is not on a NFL roster. Even though he is one of the best Quarterbacks in the league."
