WEST LAFAYETTE, Indiana — It had been 19 years since Purdue football beat a top-5 ranked team before Saturday's 49-20 win against No. 2-ranked Ohio State

Purdue's previous top-5 win came with a 52-28 win against No. 5-ranked Michigan State on Oct. 16, 1999. 

That 1999 Purdue team was ranked No. 20 and led by Drew Brees, who threw for 509 yards and five touchdowns in the game. 

Here are five more facts about what was happening Oct. 16, 1999. 

Double Jeopardy was the No. 1 movie

The suspense movie starring Tommy Lee Jones and Ashley Judd was in its third week of a three-week run as the No. 1 movie at the box office. 

Judd's acting in the movie was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Female Performance. 

Yankees lose only ALCS game

The New York Yankees were on their way to winning the 1999 World Series, but on Oct. 16, 1999, the Yankees lost. 

The Boston Red Sox won 13-1 in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series. It was the Red Sox only win of the series as the Yankees won 4-1. 

New York beat the Atlanta Braves 4-0 in the World Series. 

Heather Graham plus Marc Anthony on SNL

That night on Saturday Night Live, the host was Heather Graham and the musical guest was Marc Anthony

Anthony performed "I Need to Know" and "That's Okay."

Mariah Carey plus Jay-Z on Billboard

According to the Billboard Hot 100 chart, the No. 1 song on Oct. 16, 1999, was Mariah Carey's song "Heartbreaker" featuring Jay-Z. 

It was the song's second straight week at No. 1.

David Blough was 4 years old

Purdue quarterback David Blough threw for 378 yards and three touchdowns in Saturday's win.

He may be an old man on this year's Boilermakers team as a fifth-year senior, but on Oct. 16, 1999, he was less than 3 months past his fourth birthday. 

Blough was born July 31, 1995.
