Week 9 roundup: Sebastian River turns back Fort Pierce Central for win No. 5

Shea Spencer ran for one touchdown and passed for another Friday as Sebastian River High School's football team defeated Fort Pierce Central 16-9 at Lawnwood Stadium in Fort Pierce.

Spencer's 6-yard touchdown run late in the first half erased a 6-2 deficit. His 10-yard touchdown pass to Corbin Gibson midway through the third made it 16-6.

Fort Pierce Central (1-7) took a 6-0 lead on Lance Bianchini's 22-yard touchdown pass to Derek Larralde late in the first quarter, but the Cobras managed only a 37-yard field goal from Mark Allen the rest of the way.

Sebastian River (5-3), which finished 3-6 last season, is assured of at least a .500 finish in coach Tony Perry's first season.

Treasure Coast 34, Monsignor Pace 20: Sean Miller had three touchdown runs as the Titans clinched their third winning season in four years with a win at South County Regional Stadium.

Miller had touchdown runs of 37 and 53 yards in the first quarter. His 8-yard run with 3:26 to play closed the scoring.

Shamar Minnis added a 68-yard touchdown run and passed 1,000 yards rushing for the season for Treasure Coast (6-2).

Josh Nunes kicked field goals of 37 and 20 yards.

The Titans have scored at least 22 points in every game this season.

Monsignor Pace (5-4) trailed 23-20 at halftime and 26-20 with 5:09 to play before the Titans recovered a fumble that led to Miller's game-clinching score.

Bishop Moore 42, St. Lucie West Centennial 13: Jordan Jackson rushed for tow touchdowns and Dylan Brazil returned a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown as the Hornets defeated the Eagles in Orlando.

Dale Thomas and Janeiro Crankfield added touchdown runs and Thomas threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Christian Fries as Bishop Moore led 42-7 at halftime.

Blayne Watkins threw a 70-yard touchdown pass to Cole Mistretta and Cedrick Wilcox added a 32-yard touchdown run to end the third quarter for Centennial (6-2).

Heritage 26, Jensen Beach 7: Four players scored touchdowns as the Panthers clinched their second consecutive District 14-6A championship at Palm Bay.

Rontavius Farmer, Matthew Hall and NIgel Scott had touchdown runs for Heritage (7-1, 4-0 district), which won its seventh consecutive game.

Scott also threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Jumaine MacDonald as the Panthers built a 19-0 halftime lead.

Jaxson Scott threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Wilkinson for Jensen Beach (4-4, 2-2).

Melbourne Central Catholic 31, South Fork 20: Keyshawn Spencer scored on touchdown runs of 68 and 70 yards as the Hustlers defeated the Bulldogs for the second year in a row.

The Hustlers (5-3) led 17-0 at halftime before South Fork (2-6) rallied in the second half.

The Bulldogs' Joe Macgillivray scored three second-half touchdowns on runs of 6, 23 and 22 yards.

Bayside 29, Port St. Lucie 24: Four players scored touchdowns as the Bears surprised the Jaguars at Volunteer Stadium.

Davonney Voltaire, Logan Brabham and Tony Dobbs had touchdown runs and Brabham threw a 26-yard touchdown pass to Chase Smith for Bayside (3-5), which won its second game in a row.

Montavious Yearby rushed for one touchdown and caught a 46-yard touchdown pass from Robbie Komar for Port St. Lucie (4-5). He has an area-best 19 touchdowns.

Komar also threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Elijah Hadley and Tajah Johnson added a 4-yard TD run with 4:31 remaining.

John Carroll Catholic 49, LaSalle (Miami) 20: Jay Allen threw three touchdown passes to Bryce Bevins and ran for a fourth as the Golden Rams won a South Florida Conference game at McGuire Stadium.

Allen and Bevins connected on scoring passes of 39, 2 and 32 yards for John Carroll (5-3, 3-3 conference), which led 28-7 at halftime and won its second game in a row.

Savion Baker had two touchdown runs and Michael Cheyne returned an interception 32 yards for the Rams' final touchdown in the fourth quarter.

LaSalle is 2-7, 0-7.

Lake Mary Prep 16, St. Edward's 6: Marvin Holifield scored two touchdowns as the Griffins won at Pirate Field in Vero Beach.

Holifield caught a 10-yard touchdown pass from Logan McClure in the second quarter and added a 15-yard touchdown run in the third for Lake Mary Prep (2-6).

Michael Mangieri threw a 36-yard touchdown pass to Ty Redmon in the second quarter for St. Edward's (1-7).

Eau Gallie 27, Okeechobee 0: The Commodores handed the Brahmans their fourth consecutive shutout loss in a District 14-6A game at Okeechobee.

Okeechobee (0-8, 0-4 district) has been outscored 314-37.

Eau Gallie (6-2, 3-1), which led 14-0 after one quarter, clinched a winning season.

THURSDAY

Astronaut 28, Fort Pierce Westwood 12: Jaiden Dollard had touchdown runs of 46 and 24 yards as the Eagles won their sixth consecutive game.

Connor Ferguson threw a 12-yard touchdown pass to Louis Arnold in the first quarter and Dollard had both TD runs in the second quarter for Astronaut (7-1), which led 21-0 at halftime.

Ferguson's 1-yard run in the fourth quarter made it 28-0.

Tremayne Price had a 16-yard touchdown run and Tyrone Williams returned a blocked punt 15 yards for another score for Fort Pierce Westwood (5-3).

That ended Astronaut's shutout streak of 284 minutes, 50 seconds dating to Sept. 7.
