Like anyone who regularly wears makeup, Victoria's Secret model Candice Swanepoel has had years to figure out techniques that give her the results she wants. But she's also quick to admit in a new makeup-routine video for Vogue that "getting my makeup done by different makeup artists daily helped me learn what works best for me." That includes three super-smart concealer tricks that she uses when doing what she calls an "everyday glowy, sun-kissed look."

Swanepoel's first trick may very well be her most surprising: She applies a shimmering liquid bronzer before any concealer. Why? "My body is always darker than my face because I use sunscreen daily. So this — it looks crazy in the beginning," she says, referring to the seemingly out-of-order application. (Spoiler alert: It doesn't look crazy — just crazy-gorgeous.) This won't be the last time Swanepoel uses bronzer in this routine, but before it comes back, she reveals her other clever concealer techniques.

Swanepoel is a big fan of using Kryolan Dermacolor Camouflage Creme as concealer. It's a very concentrated, full-coverage formula, though, so that's where her second hack comes in. "It’s quite heavyweight stuff, so I do mix an oil or something moist to kind of smooth it out," she says, blending a face oil with a glob of Dermacolor on her hand. She then applies it with a Beautyblender that's been dampened with rosewater mist. "I have some sun damage and markings from my pregnancy. It’s a normal thing that happens," she says of the areas to which she applies her mixture.

After using her finger to apply Stila Convertible Color on her cheeks, lids, and nose, Swanepoel returns to concealer. “I’m gonna go back in under my eyes with this Dermacolor, and really get those little bags," she says. "Thank God for concealer."

That isn't the last time we see her use the Dermacolor, though. She brings it back for her final concealer hack after making a little bit of a mess applying M.A.C. Haute & Naughty Lash Mascara to her lower lashes: "A trick to get the messy mascara bits is dipping the Q-tip in concealer so you don’t take it all off."

Once her masterful concealer work is set and her eyes are done, Swanepoel finishes as she started: with bronzer. This time, it's in powder form. “This is one of my favorite products," she says of Benefit Cosmetics Hoola Matte Bronzer. “I think everyone uses this. This gives you, like, a great tan. I like to put a lot on my forehead because that’s where the sun would usually get you."
