We need to clarify, at least in my mind anyway. The housing is the large casting that bolts to the engine, then the water pump assembly bolts into the housing. The large housing is available in aluminum, the pump assembly to my knowledge is not.

Racetorations sells a billet aluminum water pump but it will cost you. I know I bought one. http://www.racetorations.co.uk/triumph-c56/tr5-tr250-c7/tr5-engine-c17/racetorations-lightweight-water-pump-and-pulley-billet-6-cylinder-p795

If I had access to a plating shop with "free" run ..... I'd be down right DANGEROUS.

Yes agreed it is beautiful. I think I will just polish and buff a Nickel plated one. The cost is crazy for the Aluminum one. I run a plating shop so it is eassy for me to get it done.

Looks notwithstanding, anything aluminum in the cooling system will introduce a corrosion factor that wasn't there before - the only component in the system which was aluminum originally is the piddling thermostat housing. Another great feature of our vintage cars - brass and iron, no aluminum.
Won't have any of it for mine.

Tom,
For what ever it's worth, I've had Triumphs since 1965. All at some point receive aluminum radiators. Both my current GT6 and Spitfire have aluminum water pump housings as well as bump units. The thing to remember is that these are all aluminum alloys and not pure soft aluminum. I have never seen any "galvanic" action on any of my "aluminum" components. I wish I could say the same for the bodies.

Well, when your piddling thermostat housing corrodes through you let me know. But I also run Evans so galvanic corrosion is not a concern.
