Should be different, the TR6 rotor is longer.

Can be made to work though, if you cut down the tip. We got a club member going that way on the way home from VTR in Beaverton.

OT: I broke a TR6 rotor once in the middle of nowhere 45 years ago. Got a ride to the NAPA store with a friendly state policeman. Guy at NAPA says “that rotor looks like one one off a Vega”. Sells it to me and it fit perfectly. Got me out of nowhere.

I myself am currently having ignition problems..So I do the usual troubleshooting of plug wires, plugs, new Pertronic, copper contact Dizzy Cap and Rotor..All the usual guarantees to eliminate the problem. Did I say Guarantees? Well no Guarantees in life also extends to these Rotors! By example are : I have the Advance Auto Rotor, Moss Red Rotor, Northwest blue Rotor. old Lucas Rotor.. and each one has a different character from skipping lightly to skipping erratic to not running at all! I now have one installed that works for at least the time being. All mentioned look and fit relatively the same. However the red one fits somewhat tighter. All are new except the Lucas brand. With these cars it's essential,
to have something like new parts you can count on...

Be sure to double-check the resistance of your spark plug wires, Steve. An internally broken wire or resistor can sometimes lurk behind rotor failures, especially if you run a hot coil or upgraded ignition.

That club member I mentioned above had replaced his rotor at VTR because it was running rough. Problem got better for awhile, then much worse on the way home. Only about 200 miles before it wouldn't run at all. Bad plug connector plus a Lucas Sports coil.

Thanks Randall for responding. My problems all began when I took out the Volt gauge and Temp gauge to clean the lense. when I reinstalled the Volt gauge the pos. wire was mounted on the gauge as it was designed to do. But we all probably know about the very thin fiber and even thinner plastic washer that separates the pos. terminal from the gauge back. Of course the gauge back itself is neg. Note: do not screw down the small barrel looking threaded brass nut . Even if it needs tightening or you will also have a Meltdown! My car was running just fine prior to this. Now all kinds of trouble has cropped-up. Some not even related.. I have 12.6 volts from the white coil wire of which I replaced. So I'm believing the ignition has been rectified. Maybe the plug wires could have fallen victim to a power surge. coil, fuel pump, pertronic, fuel filters, rotor, cap, and more although some totally unrelated. Currently a war has pursued between me and a host of Lucas demons. I'm holding my grounds for now anyway!

Randall,
Here again...I read your post again and absorbed even more meaning from it. For the last aprox. 30k miles I have been running a Pertronic trigger and not the points. This in addition to MSD Multi Spark Ignition combined with Pertronic performance Coil. Performance Accel Spark Plug Wires, e3 .46 plugs.
Through the years I have to admit several occasions where the car took spell of bad behavior. I'm probably the only one!!. You mentioned the extra performance add ons can be problematic is an eye opener too and I really thank you for that. I've not considered having to pay the price for these luxuries as hurting components but unfortunately will need to consider if they are worth the pain in the @$$ to have them. An Electric Water Pump for the family car is $319. So maybe $27 fuel pump, $69 for electronic ignition, 30 for plugs 38 sports coil 65 low resistance plug wires really isn't that bad. . She's a cheap date and generally... just cheap... you know considering.
