Waste Away to take over Village trash hauling Oct. 31

The Village of Granville will have a new refuse and recycling hauler beginning on Oct. 31 in the firm of Waste Away Systems.

The Village of Granville has contracted with Waste Away Systems to provide exclusive residential refuse hauling services for the entire Village. Refuse is collected weekly every Wednesday or Thursday, except for holiday weeks when the pick-up is on Thursday or Friday. Items should be placed at the curb prior to 7 a.m. the day of pick-up.

Each participating resident should have received a letter from Waste Away advising them of this change along with their pick-up day. The first pick-up date for residents, who live east of the Denison Golf Course, is Wednesday, Oct. 31.

For residents, who live west of the Denison Golf Course including residents on Pinehurst Drive, Welsh Hills Road and Parnassus Village Drive, the pick-up day is Thursday, Nov. 1. Refuse and recycling will continue to be picked-up on the same day, but the Village will have two separate pick-up days.

Waste Away will be delivering a 96-gallon toter and a 64-gallon recycling toter to each household the week of Oct. 22. Please advise Waste Away if you do not want toters, if you want additional toters, or with any questions about toters. You may use your own container or bags as long as the container has a lid, handles and does not weigh more than 50 pounds.

To check on your service, please contact Waste Away Systems at 740-349-2783. Refuse service is billed quarterly at a rate of $20 per month, per household or a senior rate of $18.50 per month for individuals 65 years and older. Residential premises that are vacant for at least thirty (30) days may suspend monthly service by contacting Waste Away Systems.

Republic Services last pick-up days will be Oct. 25 and 26. Republic toters will be picked up on those days also, once trash and recycling have been collected. The Republic contractor will make multiple sweeps through town to remove all toters. Please leave your Republic toters at the curb until it is removed.
