Ant McPartlin and Lisa Armstrong divorce over his 'adultery': couple split in 30 second hearing with his ex-wife stating living with him was 'intolerable'

TV star Ant McPartlin was divorced from his wife Lisa Armstrong today in a "quickie" court hearing that lasted just 30 seconds.

Ms Armstrong blamed their split on adultery according to court papers.

She brought court proceedings against the TV star, saying Ant "has committed adultery and (she) finds it intolerable to live with (him)".

The couple confirmed their split in January after months of speculation that their marriage was on the rocks, and formally ended their 11-year marriage in court this morning.

Ms Armstrong filed the divorce papers against the TV star. The reason she gave for the split will be revealed by the court later today.

It is the latest step on a rocky road for Ant, who revealed last year that he had been battling a painkiller addiction that culminated in a spell in rehab.

The I'm a Celebrity and Saturday Night Takeaway host, 42, was caught drink driving following a car crash in March, two months after his split from Ms Armstrong was announced.

He was banned from driving for 20 months and fined £86,000 after admitting the charge, confessing that he had “let a lot of people down”.

After the drink drive arrest, he stepped away from his television commitments with co-presenter and friend Declan Donnelly, and has been replaced by Holly Willoughby on the next series of I'm a Celebrity….Get Me Out of Here!.

Ant first met his make-up artist wife, 41, at a roadshow in Newcastle in the mid-1990s when Ms Armstrong was a singer in pop band Deuce.

They married in 2006, but rumours of trouble in their relationship began to surface last year.

Confirming the split in January, the star's representative said: "Ant is very sad to announce that, after eleven years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin."

They both stayed away from Central London family court this morning as District Judge Alun Jenkins granted a decree nisi to the couple in their absence.

The divorce will be finalised six weeks from today's hearing.

Ant is now dating his former personal assistant Anne-Marie Corbett.
