Video: CBS Sports HQOur team breaks down the weekend in high school football.A day after a very rare Southern California lightning storm postponed the most anticipated high school football game of the season,
D.J. Uiagalelei showed what a rare talent he is.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound
St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.) junior quarterback threw four first-half touchdown passes and added a fifth late in the fourth quarter leading the top-ranked team in the nation to a 41-18 Trinity League win over No. 2 and defending national champion
Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) Saturday at the Santa Ana Bowl.
The win secured the No. 1 national ranking for the Braves (8-0) and ended Mater Dei's 22-game win streak on the field. The Monarchs (6-2) beat Bishop Amat to open the season but used an ineligible player and was dinged with a defeat.
This was only the eighth meeting between the nation's top two ranked teams since 2001.
Uiagalelei, the top-rated junior quarterback in the country by 247Sports, connected with
Jake Bailey twice (10 and 25 yards),
George Holani (27 yards) and
Kristopher Hutson (24 yards) on first-half scoring strikes lifting the Braves to a 27-10 halftime lead.

Holani (12 carries, 123 yards) then just about clinched it with his 75-yard run on the first play of the second half, breaking through a hard would-be tackle before sprinting the final 60 yards untouched.
Another 5-star junior quarterback, Mater Dei's
Bryce Young threw for 311 yards and two touchdown passes, a 5-yarder to
Bru McCoy and a 20-yarder to
Mike Martinez, the latter cutting the lead to 34-18 early in the fourth quarter.
But Uiagalelei (15 of 22, 279 yards) put an exclamation point on his night with a 30-yard TD strike to Bailey, his third touchdown catch of the night, with 2:02 remaining. Bailey had six catches for 161 yards.
The 18 points was the lowest Mater Dei has scored in a game since 2015 and the 41 allowed was 10 more than the Monarchs had give up the six previous weeks combined. Young, who entered with a 77 completion percentage, was 23 of 41 and was sacked three times.
Bosco was the last team to defeat Mater Dei on the field, 42-28 in the 2016 Southern Section finals. The two teams could face off again, in the Southern Section Division I playoffs.
