Is This a Perfect Lunch?

I really need to understand how Better Half Coffee & Cocktails makes these amazing cauliflower tots. Actually I need to know how they make all of this because it’s a great lunch.

Let’s start with this redfish torta. In short, it’s a great lunch sandwich. It’s not too heavy and the escabeche is just right. They avoid the mistake of having an escabeche that drowns in vinegar. That would absolutely ruin the mild flavor of the redfish. Fortunately they let the fish shine. I would say it might challenge my long-standing love affair with the fish sandwich at Perla’s.

But let’s talk about these tots. I’ll admit that I’ve never been a huge fan of cauliflower. It’s grown on my over the years. At the same time it’s still not one of the vegetables I’ll jump at when I see it. When you say you have tots made of cauliflower, my first response is usually, “Did they run out of potatoes?”

Not anymore. These put traditional tots to shame. They’re full of flavor, and not just from the fact they’re fried to perfection. I don’t know how they do it but I can only assume that it’s some combination of skill, talent, pre-baking the cauliflower, and witchcraft.

I forgot to mention the beet ketchup! So many good things here!

Just go to Better Half and grab some. You might want to go off-peak though because they can get busy. Seating can be a challenge and it’s definitely loud inside. Sitting outside is the way to go but they are just a few shade umbrellas short of perfect.
