Week 6 capsules: Vero Beach-Centennial, Martin Bowl top big district slate

St. Lucie West Centennial's football team shut out Martin County 30-0 Friday, Sept. 21, 2018 at Martin County. The Eagles will try to end Vero Beach's 48-game regular-season winning streak when the teams meet in a District 8-8A opener at South County Regional Stadium.

Jalen Pryor had interception-return and kickoff-return touchdowns against Port St. Lucie ... Last game: St. Edward's lost to Jupiter Christian 47-7; Seffner Christian defeated Carrollwood Day 34-7.

Worth noting: St. Edward's has been outscored 123-28. The Pirates have scored one touchdown in each game ... St. Ed's QB Michael Mangieri has three touchdown passes ... The Pirates have rushed for only 120 yards in four games ... On defense, DB Will Sternberg has a team-high 32 tackles while DB Ian Horvit has 30 ... Seffner Christian has outscored opponents 164-27. Seffner QB Isaiah Knowles has passed for 605 yards and nine touchdowns. The Crusaders average 6.4 yards per run. ... Michael Trigg has a team-high 15 catches for 217 yards and five touchdowns.

Nation forfeits

Illness and injuries forced Nation Christian Academy (1-4) to forfeit Friday's game against Foundation Academy.

According to NCA director of football operations Charlie Brown, the Eagles would have had only one senior player available.

Ironically, the Eagles are coming off a forfeit win from Citrus Park Christian last week.

Foundation (6-0) had outscored opponents 152-32 in five previous games.

Nation Christian's next game is its home debut Oct. 5 against Keswick Christian at Sportsman's Park in Port St. Lucie.
