TV personality stopping at the fair on Friday to encourage people to vote

COSHOCTON - Jerry Springer, former mayor of Cincinnati and well-known television personality, will be making a personal appearance at the Coshocton County Fair. 

Selfie with Springer will be available from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, at the Coshocton County Democratic Party's booth under the grandstand. Springer will be available to meet with people and take photos as he encourages residents to vote in the November general election.

The 74-year-old hosted "The Jerry Springer Show" filmed nearly 3,900 episodes over the course of 27 seasons. A film loosely based on the talk show, "Ringmaster," was released in 1998 starring Springer. He also hosted the documentary series "Tabloid," game show "Baggage" and reality competition series "America's Got Talent." Springer has made numerous television and movie appearances.

He was elected mayor of Cincinnati at the age of 33 and served in that position from 1977 to 1978. Prior to that, he spent five terms on Cincinnati City Council.

After serving as mayor, Springer became a news anchor for WLWT, the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati.

Springer was born in London, England, on Feb. 13, 1944, and his family moved to the United States when he was 5. He has a degree in political science from Tulane University and a law degree from Northwestern University.
