WASHINGTON TWP. - A 68-year-old woman stabbed another woman at an adult community here Friday evening and then refused to surrender to a SWAT team, according to police.

Isabella Chechio has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Officers were called to Magnolia Lane in The Maples, a 55-and-over community, shortly before 8 p.m. for a reported assault.

They found a woman "lying in the driveway suffering from multiple stab wounds," according to a police department news release.

The suspect was still in the house, police said, and officers tried to get her to come out. Eventually the Gloucester County SWAT Team was called in, police said.

After failed attempts to get Chechio to leave the house, SWAT team members made entry and took the woman into custody.

The victim was taken to Cooper University Hospital in Camden and Chechio was taken to Jefferson Hospital for treatment of self-inflicted stab wounds, police said.
