2 arrested in stolen firearms cases

The Sandusky County Sheriff's Office and the Norwalk Police Department worked together to make arrests in cases involving stolen firearms.

 

FREMONT - Sandusky County Sheriff's Office detectives, working in conjunction with Norwalk Police Department detectives, arrested two men and recovered several items, including stolen firearms, according to a sheriff's office news release.

The detectives also arrested two men in connection with burglaries related to the stolen items, which included firearms.

Sheriff Chris Hilton could not be reached for comment about the investigation or details regarding the arrests.

The Sandusky County Sheriff's Office issued a release concerning the stolen items and arrests shortly before 5 p.m. Friday.

According to the news release, among the recovered items was a 9 mm pistol that had been reported stolen out of Norwalk.

The two males arrested in the case are young adults, one of whom was arrested by Norwalk Police Department officers and the other was arrested by Sandusky County Sheriff's Office deputies, according to the news release.

One of the arrested individuals told officers that an armed robbery had been planned with the stolen firearm, according to the sheriff's office.

No names, ages or cities of residence were released for the suspects arrested in the case.

Sheriff's detectives received a tip regarding the location of possible stolen items in York Township.

As a result of the investigation, detectives recovered items stolen from a residence in York Township and items stolen out of Norwalk.

A 16-year-old male was found hiding under the basement stairs of the residence, according to the sheriff's office. Investigators interviewed the juvenile and learned of details involving a burglary in York Township.

He had been entered in the National Crime Information Center's database  as a missing/wanted juvenile out of Fairfield County Juvenile Court.

The victims of the York Township burglary identified several of the items recovered as their property.

The Sandusky County sheriff's office notified the owner of the stolen firearm that his firearm was recovered.
