v Sholing (FA Cup 2nd qualifying round)

Only positive thing to say about today is that we are still in the draw. A terrible performance and I hope the players got a volley from the management as they should all be questioning their performance levels today.

Hopefully Tuesday can be an improvement, if not, rather than the 2nd round, we'll have made the 2nd qualifying round this year!

As poor our performance was you have to counter that with how Sholing played. They certainly played above their level and they grew in confidence. We’re all disappointed because even though it was a tight game we should still have had enough in our locker to see us through. It now makes for a nervy midweek match at theirs where they’ll be very confident and we’lol have to up our game considerably.

Agree that we should not take anything away from Sholing . We knew exactly what we were up against, top scorer on fire , team much better than their level suggests and players who, would clearly be up,for it . But we just lacked the intensity that we normally show and never really got to grips with them . Also, their No 5 was immense . First to everything and never out of the right position. They fully deserved a replay.

Firstly, full credit to Sholing who's players all gave 100%, got the draw their performance deserved and were the width of the post away from producing an upset.

Onto our performance which sadly was abject to say the least.

We deservedly went 2-0 up but then went into sleep mode, conceded a very poorly defended goal from a corner before half time which gave Sholing all the encouragement they needed for the second half.

We continued in the same vein in the second half, not competing in large areas of the pitch with our forwards feeding off scraps from a lack of creativity from our midfield and TBH I can't remember their keeper making a save all game.

Unfortunately the equaliser came as no surprise from another poorly defended near post corner.

Real uphill battle on our hands now on Tuesday where only a 100% committed performance will do to get a result.

when will we get it into our thick heads in matches like this the underdog team will always be up for it,last season it was us so we have experience  and therefore no excuse for some reason we just do not seem to be up for games like this for a whole 90 minutes, today you would have thoght that sholing were the higher league team , indeed if they had taken all their promotions in recent years they probably would have :(

I know Sue. Have no problem with criticism of players or management when we are poor like we were yesterday, I just think the choice of words was unnecessary and over the top.

But it has come from someone who went over the top with criticism when we lost a home game last season and then never came back to congratulate us when we won promotion so it’s not entirely surprising. I guess some people just prefer moaning and being negative. Each to their own!

Nothing to do with me-I thought we were  a bit unlucky.
