Lowcountry leaders keep close eye on Florence, when you can expect re-openings

(WJCL) Although Florence has been downgraded to a tropical storm, leaders in the Lowcountry are still keeping a close eye on the storm. Officials with the town of Hilton Head say emergency management is still taking the storm seriously and is ready to deploy resources if necessary.They are calling the next 36 hours critical. They want you to know high rip currents remain in effect and will be extremely dangerous to anyone in the water. As far as town offices, administrative operations will return to normal Monday morning. And as of Saturday morning at 8:30, town parks and restrooms will reopen. Beach matting will be back in place. But note, trash cans will be limited on beaches. As for Beaufort County students, school is back in session Monday. Another important reminder: the state-wide burning ban is still in effect until further notice. Burning of any kind is prohibited. The Town of Hilton Head Island says you can keep up with the latest information on their official Facebook and Twitter pages. They're encouraging the public to use #FlorenceHHI when posting to social media.
