Police officers in Kansas City, Missouri, are taking teddy bears with them whenever they go out on patrol, and it's for a good reason.
The Kansas City Police Department calls them "comfort bears," and the name says it all. These stuffed animals of all shapes, sizes and colors are used to help keep kids calm and comfort them in the field during times of crisis.
The bears, which are donated to the KCPD, fill shelves upon shelves in the equipment room. But it isn't long before the shelves are emptied, as the officers go through about 125 bears per week.
Watch the video above to see how police officers are using comfort bears to connect with kids and help them cope with trauma.
