A former Kansas State basketball player has accepted a plea bargain for his role in an Overland Park road rage shooting in January.In a Johnson County courtroom Tuesday, Amaad Wainright pleaded guilty to felony obstructing apprehension and aiding a felon, In exchange for the plea, a fleeing from law enforcement charge was dropped. Wainright will be sentenced Oct. 24. Around 5 p.m. on Jan. 17, Overland Park police say a 25-year-old man was involved in an aggressive exchange with Wainright while on Interstate 435 between State Line Road and Roe Avenue. Court documents only identify the man as Eric, but he claims a passenger in Wainright’s vehicle opened a car door, held up a gun and fired one shot into his back door. Nobody was injured in the incident. The night before the incident, Wainright played 5 minutes and did not score any points in the Wildcats’ upset victory over Oklahoma. Wainright, who is from Kansas City, was dismissed from the Wildcat team after the incident.
