If you're a fan of the 4X strategy genre, you may remember our coverage of Stellaris from 2016. If you're a console gamer, you're probably keenly aware of a relative lack of grand strategy games on both the PS4 and Xbox One. That's changing, as Paradox Interactive announced today Stellaris is set to take our console gaming brethren to the stars, and you won't have to wait very long.
The console edition of Stellaris will be the exact same game as its PC counterpart, and will also be included in future DLC releases. The release comes in both standard and deluxe varieties, with the deluxe edition giving you access to the Plantoids Species Pack, Leviathans Story Pack, and Utopia Expansion when they're elased. The standard edition can also pick the DLC up as it becomes available if you don't mind paying extra. Regardless of which version you pick up, both will have version 1.7 of Stellaris included on the disc.
In addition to the already announced DLC that hasn't been launched yet, Stellaris: Console Edition will also receive consistent updates and DLC alongside the PC version well after launch. No release date for the game's console port was announced at Gamescom today, but there were demo stations set up on the show floor and the announcement trailer hails the ports as "coming soon."
