Vineland woman killed in crash, Bridgeton man charged
VINELAND – A Vineland woman is dead and Bridgeton man has been charged with death by auto following a two-vehicle collision around noon Sunday at Chestnut Avenue and Nottingham Drive.
Rochelle A. Caldwell, 41, died of her injuries at Jefferson Hospital after her Chevrolet Malibu was rear-ended by a Ford Explorer truck driven by Juan Vazquez Reyes, police said.
Reyes, 21, fled the scene and was later apprehended by police, authorities said. He was held in Cumberland County Jail.
Investigators said Caldwell was trying to make a left turn onto Nottingham when her car was hit.
The investigation continues. Officer Paul Cifuentes of the traffic safety unit is the investigating officer.
