South Jersey school says music room damaged in blaze

A music room was damaged at Williamstown Middle School when a fire broke out.

MONROE - The band room at a Gloucester County middle school was damaged in a fire Friday afternoon.

Crews were called to Williamstown Middle School on Clayton Road for a reported fire in the building shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Firefighters found the blaze in the school's music/band room and immediately set to work.

The fire was quickly knocked down, the Williamstown Fire Department said on its Facebook page, and crews ventilated the building.

The school posted to its Facebook page that nobody was injured and fire crews prevented the fire from spreading to other areas of the school.

The cause of the fire is being investigated and school officials were surveying the damage.
