The police in Lagos have arrested a hotel worker, Anita Sunday, for allegedly trafficking three teenagers.

The 27-year-old Delta State indigene, who came from the same village as the victims, was alleged to have tricked them to Lagos, promising to give them good jobs.

PUNCH Metro learnt that as soon as they arrived in Lagos in July 2018, the suspect sent the girls to different brothels.

She was also alleged to have seized their phones to prevent them from contacting their relations.

The victims, identified as Efe (16), Oke (16) and Gift (14), reportedly fled the brothels and were wandering around Lagos when they were intercepted by a resident.

Our correspondent was told that the Good Samaritan reported the matter to the police.

A source said, “The woman, Anita Sunday, took the girls from the village on July 27, 2018, with a promise to give them good jobs. But when they got to Lagos, she took them to brothels. She took Gift to a brothel at Ajah, sent Efe to another one at Ijora, and Oke to a brothel at Ajegunle.

“She collected the money the girls made from them. The girls had worked for more than one week when they decided to run away.”

The state police spokesperson, CSP Chike Oti, said the suspect had been arrested and would be arraigned at the end of investigation.

He said, “Last Saturday, one Austin reported at the Layeni Police Station that one Anita Sunday of Face 2 Hotel, Ajegunle, Lagos, deceived and brought the victims from Delta State to Lagos.

“She allegedly promised them sales girl jobs in her beer parlour. But on getting to Lagos, she sent them to different hotels for prostitution.

“On August 10, 2018, they escaped from their hotels and started roaming about the street. They were accosted by the complainant, who brought them to the station. The suspect will be prosecuted at the end of investigation.”
