Community theater workshop scheduled

COSHOCTON - The Coshocton Footlight Players will hold a How Do You Do That? volunteer workshop training day from 9 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Triple Locks Theater, 685 N. Whitewoman St.

There will be three different session. The first session from 9 to 11 a.m. will focus on props and costumes, sound and lights, and painting, set building and set decorating. The second session from 10:30 a.m. to noon will feature information on being a producer, house manager and stage manager. The afternoon session from 1 to 4:15 p.m. will feature information on being a director and auditioning, terminology and blocking, improvisation, and an actor’s panel discussion. One can attend any or all sessions.

Museum part of Sunflower Festival

COSHOCTON - The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum will provide two activities for the Coshocton KOA Sunflower Festival at the KOA Campground.

Museum Director Jennifer Bush will offer family paint classes at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday with sunflowers as the theme. Sunflower paintings from previous paint nights at the museum will be on display with visitors being able to vote on their favorite. The winning painting will receive a prize and proceeds will go toward the museum’s educational fund.

The Friends of the Museum will also be holding a beer garden with beer from Wooly Pig Farm Brewery from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, noon to 4 p.m. Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Progressive Valley Grange Meeting 8:30 p.m., Progressive Valley Grange, County Road 93, Fresno. The program will be provide by deaf activities chair Cristie Merce. There will be a paper drive to support Shepherds Ministry Church.

Friday

Sunflower Festival Coshocton KOA Campground, 24688 County Road 10, Coshocton. $10 for adults and $5 for children. Time are 4 to 9 p.m. Aug. 17, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 18 and noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 19.

“Broadway: A Journey Through the Decades” 8 p.m., also Saturday, Triple Locks Theater, 685 N. Whitewoman St., Coshocton. $12 adults, $7 students. Many local performers will present songs from “Rent,” “Hair,” “Ragtime,” “Les Misreables,” “Phantom of the Opera” and more.

Saturday

Gateway to Fall Festival West Elementary School, 517 Beaver St., Newcomerstown. Includes dedication of the Woody Hayes statue at 1 p.m. at Lee Stadium. Speakers will be Hayes’ son, Steven, and two-time Heisman Trophy winner Archie Griffin.

Scout Day 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Historic Roscoe Village, 600 North Whitewoman St., Coshocton. $5 for adults, $10 for youth. Scouts can participate in a soil erosion demonstration by Coshocton Soil and Water Conservation District, a leather craft by River Ridge Leather, presentations by Clary Gardens on parasitic insects, presentations on the World War II exhibit at the Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum.

Sunday

Coshocton GOP Summer Picnic 1-3 p.m., Schumaker Farms, 52441 County Road 16, West Lafayette. Central Committee members are to bring a covered dish.
