The other new limited-edition model is the 2019 Ford Mustang California Special. Offered for the Mustang GT fastback coupe and convertible models, you'll see design cues of the original 1968 edition of the California Special that was inspired by the 1967 Shelby GT notchback coupe prototype.

High-Performance Driving Enhanced

For starters, the 2.3L EcoBoost engine that delivers 310 hp & 350 lb/ft of torque now also gives you the fully variable active valve performance exhaust you’d find on the Mustang GT. This means you'll be able to get an aggressive snarl from the quad-tip exhaust system that can be controlled via the drive mode system or personalized MyMode settings. There's also a quiet start mode that reduces the noise, perfect for not waking the neighbors during late-night drives.
If you prefer the more powerful 5.0L V8 clocking in at 460 hp, 420 lb/ft of torque & a top speed of 155 mph, you'll enjoy the rev-matching you'll now get. This advanced capability smooths out the transition of shifting between gears, making the drive feel more like a manual-transmission performance car while giving you an accessible manual mode in case you want to experiment with that.
