CHICAGO — Rachel Winer, who most recently led brand partnerships for BuzzFeed, has been named president of Edelman’s Chicago office, succeeding Jay Porter as he moves on to become CEO of Edelman-owned tech agency Revere.

During her nearly two years at BuzzFeed, Winer ran the company’s Chicago and Detroit offices and led regional brand partnerships as a senior VP. Before that, she spent more than 15 years at Leo Burnett Group, ending her tenure there as an executive VP.

Edelman US CEO Russell Dubner said Winer’s expertise are in line with meeting changing client needs.

“Edelman has always been well known for helping companies and brands … from energizing them to defending them … and increasingly we are seeing our clients look to us to help them grow or transform,” Dubner said.

“There’s a really strong base of amazing clients that are here in Chicago (including United and Kellogg’s) and across the Midwest. Bringing on someone of Rachel’s caliber and know-how to help drive growth for our clients makes it a terrific place to apply new thinking,” he said.

Meanwhile, Porter, in his new role, will be leading Revere in tandem with co-founder Jamey Boike. That job focuses on handling communications for tech-enabled companies and brands.

Porter’s move comes on the heels of a four-year stint as Edelman Chicago president. He is a 13-year agency vet.
