Herbrand Factory, circa 1930.

This aerial view, looking southeast from above the State Street Bridge, shows the maze of buildings in the huge Herbrand works about 1930, before the company moved out on Stone Street. The large square building toward the upper left was the Clauss Shear factory, which moved up to Pine and Prospect streets. Much of the area that Herbrand once occupied is now part of the floodwall, and the old Clauss factory burned in the 1960s. A few of the buildings at the lower left across East State Street are still standing.
