The children and ladies alike have had great fun learning new skills whilst sitting on the bright yellow double-decker bus parked in the school playground. Hopefully, the pupils from Y1 – Y6 will carry on with these home skills.
This school initiative is just part of a larger project as Towcester Evening WI has joined with the Royal British Legion (Towcester Branch), St Lawrence Parish Church and the South Northants Volunteer Bureau School of Life, to plan a Cascade of Poppies at the Remembrance Garden to mark the end of the WW1 Commemorations in November.
The WI Gardening Team has been busy revamping the Remembrance Garden in readiness and WI members have organised a Coffee & Craft Morning and a drop-in evening at the local Towcester Mill Brewery to encourage everyone to get knitting, stitching and making poppies in any medium to add to the cascade and the garden. It is great to see the community coming together and taking a pride in our small but expanding town. And it’s not too late to make poppies for the cascade.
We need hundreds and hundreds of them to enable us to have a spectacular display. Can you play a part?
