LONDON — Sir Martin’s Sorrell’s S4 Capital has made its first acquisition, agreeing to buy Dutch content production business MediaMonks in a deal thought to be worth around €300 million. S4 Capital, which outbid other companies including WPP – from which Sorrell stepped down as CEO in April – said in a statement: “The merger represents the first move by S4 Capital to create a new era, new media solution embracing data, content and technology, which meets client needs in an always-on environment.” Media Monks welcomed Sorrell as its new “Senior Monk”.

LONDON — Digital comms group Next Fifteen has acquired 100% of the share capital of Technical Associates Group (TAG), a specialist technical content and digital marketing business focused on the industrial engineering sector. TAG services clients from offices in the UK, Germany and Singapore and will trade as a member of Next 15’s Publitek group. MDs Sylvia Laws and Ian Clay will join the Publitek board.

LONDON — TVC Group has appointed Wayne Nguyen (pictured) as director of client services (integrated). Reporting to group managing director James Myers, Nguyen joins the TVC Group board and will head up the content marketing team, working across a client portfolio that includes Aldermore Bank, MIB, V by Vodafone and Hertz. He has worked at J.Walter Thompson and TBWA and was most recently client partner at design agency The Chase.

LONDON — Open source technology company NGINX, which powers many of the world's busiest sites and applications including Buzzfeed, Instagram, Netflix, Pinterest and SoundCloud, has appointed Firefly Communications Group to handle communications and increase brand awareness in the UK, France and Germany. Firefly will handle media relations activity including press relations, speaker programs, awards, news hijacking and analyst relations.

LONDON — Takeaway food delivery service Deliveroo has appointed Talker Tailor Trouble Maker as its UK consumer agency. The agency replaces Hope & Glory, which had worked on the brief since January last year.

LONDON — FTI Consulting has hired Elizabeth Adams as MD of its Energy & Natural Resources Group. She joins from challenger utility company UK Power Reserve, where she led communications and external affairs. She was also head of corporate communications for Canary Wharf Group and spent five years advising energy clients at Brunswick.

LONDON — Loveday Langton has joined Threepipe as head of people development from Hotwire, where she was group people and culture director. Langton will be responsible for shaping and managing Threepipe’s HR strategy.

BIRMINGHAM, UK — Grayling has promoted associate director Lee Southen, who joined the agency last year, to head up its Birmingham office. Southen will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the office as well as providing counsel to clients including HSBC and HORIBA MIRA, working with Grayling’s head of southern region Craig Ling.

LONDON — Bubble Agency, the PR, marketing and events agency specialising in the media and entertainment technology and services sectors, has been appointed by augmented reality technology developer Ncam as its PR services provider after a competitive pitch. Ncam’s technology has been used on films including Solo: A Star Wars Story and Thor:Ragnarok and sports broadcasts including The Open on Sky Sports.
