Direct Group snaps up former AXA veteran

Direct Group has a new managing director for property retail.

Making the switch from Rural Insurance is seasoned executive Ian Barclay, whose experience includes time spent at Aon Risk Solutions and a decade at AXA. At the latter, his positions included distribution director for corporate partnerships and head of UK motor claims.

“Ian brings a wealth of operational experience in driving major change programmes to deliver growth, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the market and its challenges,” commented retail chief operating officer Steve Anson.

In his new role Barclay will lead the property team amid what Direct Group described as “a new phase of development and growth.”

The Doncaster-headquartered firm employs more than 600 people and is also present in London, Preston, Elland, Chelmsford, and Belfast.
