Upscale Italian Cuisine at Osteria Pronto

Published by Monique on

I have found an amazing gem of a restaurant that’s quickly made its way up to my top favourite restaurants in town. Osteria Pronto is nestled inside the JW Marriott downtown and screams classy, ornate, delicious Italian cuisine.

OP recently created an amazing wine flight offering in a few different categories. We tried the Italian Whites and Italian Reds. It’s hard to choose a favourite because they were all so divine! For four White tastings, it’s only $17 and comes with a Gavi by Principessa Gavia, an Arneis Blange by Ceretto, a Pinot Grigio by Mazzoni, and a Chardonnay by Tormaresca.

For the Italian Reds, you can get four tastings for only $22 and it includes a Chianto Classico by Castello D’Albola, a Sogna Mediteraneo by Casadei, a Sangiovese Blend by Al Passo, and a Merlot Blend by Ca’Marcanda.

We started out with burrata layered with balsamic jelly, spicy tomato relish, and a crispy slice of proscuitto. We also had an item off the “secret menu” – foie gras creme caramel with poached lobster, rhubarb, petite radish and lobster broth. It was sweet and savory and so unique!

I really enjoyed the salad courses as well. They were unique, flavorful and filling. The endive and pear salad comes with gorgonzola candied hazelnuts and a lemony vinaigrette. The caprese salad was carefully designed with heirloom tomatoes, house made mozzarella, basil, marinated shallots, and aged balsamic.

For the pasta course, we had an incredibly rich and decadent chicken tortelloni – house made pasta filled with smoked chicken and formed into beautiful tortelloni topped with braised tomato chutney, steamed spinach, garlic cream sauce, and aged provolone. It’s hard to explain how truly amazing these were – you’ll have to try them yourself!

This. Steak. Is. Everything.

I’ve had my fair share of steaks and this was one of the BEST I’ve had. Even better than steakhouses in town. The 14 oz Texas wagyu strip is perfectly cooked and charred, plus comes with potato terrina, roasted baby carrots and kale with a rich au jus sauce drizzled on top. I can’t stop thinking about this! And it was only $43. Can you believe?

And after that feast, of course we ordered dessert…

The tiramisu was layered with espresso soaked ladyfingers, cocoa, mascarpone/marsala mousse, shaved white chocolate. The guava sorbetto was one of my faves – so creamy, light and flavorful! You can see the admiration in my eyes below. The mixed berry crostata comes with tons of fresh fruit, fresh whipped cream, and delicious brown sugar crumble. These desserts were the perfect blend of sweet, light, and fresh!

I can’t rave about OP enough! I’m planning on heading back to try more of their pasta dishes (that bolognese lasagna, ugh), plus their pizzas and seafood entrees! Oh yeah, and the amazing wine flight. Can’t forget about the wine.
