Licking County Settlers rally for win in Canada

The Licking County Settlers (3-8) scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning Saturday night to edge the host St. Clair Green Giants (7-6) 8-6 in Windsor, Ontario, in Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League action.

Casimer Sobaszek singled and scored the go-ahead run as a part of a three-hit night. Utica graduate Garett Robberts and Cael Baker each homered allowing the Settlers to rally from an early 5-0 deficit.

Johnny Putnam allowed two earned runs and struck out eight in six innings. John MacCauley struck out two in a hitless inning, and Grey Harmon struck out four in 12/3 innings to earn the victory.

The Settlers, who play the Green Giants again Sunday afternoon, host the Lima Locos at 7:05 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Don Edwards Park.
