On the heels of opening the new pool complex at Pala Resort Spa & Casino in May, three new components that are part of the resort’s $170 million expansion will debut on Friday, June 29: an expanded restaurant, a new gaming area with an upscale bar and an expanded smoke-free gaming area.

Luis Rey’s

The re-vamped Luis Rey’s restaurant has doubled in size and features a large bar that is half indoors and half outdoors. Menu items include a variety of burgers, sandwiches, salads and street tacos. Thirsty? Tip back margaritas, Moscow mules, wine or draft beers. The happy hour daily from 4-7 p.m. has $1 street tacos and select alcoholic drinks for $3.75. The spot also features live music Fridays and Saturdays from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.

Gaming and Marquise Bar & Lounge

For those looking for something a little higher-end, there’s a new 10,000-square-foot gaming area where the Marquise Bar & Lounge serves as the centerpiece. Hundreds of crystal strands will dangle above the oval bar and there will be 300 new slot and video poker machines in addition to blackjack and roulette tables.

Specialty cocktails at the new bar and lounge include ginger sweet peach tea, drinks made with mezquila (a blend of mezcal and tequila), wine and a craft and domestic beers both bottled and draft. The bar is open from 10 a.m.-1:30 a.m. daily and the lounge opens at 5 p.m.

Smoke-free gaming

For those looking to steer clear of cigarette smoke, the new 15,000-square-foot smoke-free casino space features floor-to-ceiling glass walls, 300 games including slot machines, video and live poker along with cashier services. Guests can enter the smoke-free casino through the smoke-free hotel entrance by using the resort’s valet service.

Correction: An earlier version of this story incorrectly named the new Marquise bar.
