BENTON COUNTY, Ark. (KNWA) — Simmons Prepared Foods hosted a dedication ceremony Wednesday to mark the start of construction on its new Benton County poultry processing facility.
The new facility will be located approximately 2 miles from Simmons’ current location in Decatur.
“We will process about 2 million birds a week for our growing customer base. We currently process those birds in Decatur, we’re going to move those folks and that product to this new facility,” said David Jackson, president and COO for Simmons.
The new facility is scheduled to open in 2019 and will add an additional 1,500 jobs in the area once the facility is fully operational in 2022.
