Mega Man X Gets A Special Armor To Use In Mega Man X Legacy Collection’s X Challenges

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 will have ‘X Challenges’, special missions where X will need to take on two Maverick bosses at once. Famitsu revealed more about the mode this week, including that X will sport a new light blue armor for the challenge. [Thanks, Rockman Corner!]

According to Famitsu, the design is based on Mega Man X4’s Ultimate Armor, but with a sleek, blue and white coloring. Thanks to this armor, X is able to choose three of the special weapons he’s earned from across the series out of nine available ones, to use in the X Challenges.

There will be 27 stages altogether, and once you choose three weapons, you have to clear an entire set of stages before being able to switch out the three weapons again.

The Maverick combinations are based on their themes, such as Wire Sponge and Web Spider forming a team. In another instance, Slash Beast and Grizzly Slash team up to take down X together. However, which Mavericks are featured depends on whether you’re playing X Challenge Volume 1 or X Challenge Volume 2, from the respective Collections.

Finally, the X Challenges will have their own online leaderboards based on how fast players can take down the sets of bosses.

Mega Man X Legacy Collection 1 + 2 will release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on July 24, 2018. You can check out more gameplay and details on the X Challenges in our previous report.
