Overactive Jérôme Amandi has been working on several projects alongside Talisco. One of them is ‘Final Horror’, an introductory mixtape in which Amandi pays homage to his artistic influences: Hammer movies, the English punk rock scene of the late 1970s (and works by Jamie Reid) and anything associated with rave music from the 90s. Inside lurks music suggesting a state of emergency with a snapshot taken from Amandi’s crowded mind.

‘Old Caltone’ is a musical project which Amandi has named after Old Caltone, a cemetery in Edinburgh. It is a fiction centred on cult vampire Dracula, with a strong Nubrid Pop feel, a bold mix of instrumentation and a wacky mélange of hip-hop and pop music (Young Fathers’ style) with subtle reminders of punk music.

‘Final Horror’ is slightly gloomy, it is an intimate and ambitious musical project that offers up a very Gorillaz or Mr.Oizo-esque sound, a combination of early Madonna songs and Sufjan Stevens’ cathartic ‘Planetarium’. Listening to this mixtape is like experiencing what it would have been like to crawl bars and clubs alongside the infamous Count Dracula and travelling through the last four musical decades.
