Hi
I'm a MKIX Owner - but I am constantly amazed how these supposed 'luxury' vehicles end up in such a state of disrepair ??? WHO owns these things, and lets them go so badly ???

Hi Jim: I too own a MKIX which my Dad bought new. I cherish it.
But I have found for many Life often gets in the way of Things :-)
Life even gets in the way of good health. Im constantly amazed at how little attention or
concern many Americans pay to their own health, weight, well being. In that context, a
beautiful vintage Jag can often lose out.
Keep the MKIX running! Its a treat for all the other drivers out there and is a fabulous car;
faster and more nimble than the Bentley and Rolls from that era, and easily as elegant.
cheers
greg

I purchased my 1959 MKix in 1961 from my neigfhbor. He had picked it up at the factory and cruised all over europe before returning to Canada. At 23000 miles it spun no 1 rod bearing and Jaguar Montreal would not honor the warranty because he had not had the car serviced at proper dealers when in europe. I pulled the engine and found only no.1 rod journal was bad. I sent the crankshaft out to have it sprayed back to standard. I ffound the there was a broken drill bit in the oil gallery to NO.1 main bearing. It had lasted all theis time with low oil feed to the rod bearing.During that time I was stationed in the arctic and it was the best starting car I ever owned. I could not afford to feed it on airforce salary so it had to go. I still miss it.Now I have an XJ-s convertible and for 31 years it carries on.
