GALION - A new Valero 24 store is planned to open this fall on Ohio 598 just past the U.S. 30 exit toward Mansfield.

The station will be located beside the recently completed Sleep Inn in Galion, Mayor Tom O'Leary said.

"This is the second one in, you might say from Galion's perspective," he said.

O'Leary said he's excited to have more development in the area and that it is one of the many steps that have been taken to develop the area.

"I'm really excited to have a new investor in the area," he said.

O'Leary said the project started after a plan to move the a grocery store in Galion to the location had fallen through.

Kalepesh Chandat, the manager of the new location, said he thinks the store will do really well because it is so close to the highway. He's hoping it will be a frequent stop for truckers and travelers.

"We have high hopes and a lot of planning going," he said.

Raj Chadat, the president and CEO of Rama Tika Management, said the location will be in addition to the four Valero franchises he owns in Richland County. The newest location in Shelby opened late last year.

"This is a good entry point," he said. "I think that will do very well."
